HP Latex Inkjet Media Helps Print Businesses Diversify
Freedom Paper is expanding the range of latex inkjet media we offer for producing different types of wide-format prints.
Our business is evolving because we know yours is too.
Some companies that first used HP DesignJet printers for signs, graphics, and reprints of architecture, engineering, and construction drawings now use HP Latex printers to print durable indoor and outdoor signs, posters, graphics, and wallcoverings.
HP Latex inkjet media has helped print-for-pay firms that use HP Latex printers produce a huge range of applications including vehicle wraps and stickers, outdoor textile signage, traffic signage, and interior decor.
What are latex inks?
HP introduced latex-ink technology in 2008 as an alternative to solvent inks that used fluids with volatile organic compounds (VOCs) to carry the pigment.
Latex inks use a polymer to encapsulate the pigments, which are then suspended in water. After the ink is jetted through HP’s thermal printheads, heat evaporates the water and activates the polymers to bind the pigments to the media.
Graphics printed with latex inks are more durable than prints with aqueous dye or pigment inks because of the way the ink binds with the substrate. They are more water-resistant and scratch-resistant than the aqueous dye or pigment inks used in office inkjet printers.
Outdoor graphics printed with HP Latex inks on HP Latex inkjet media can last up to three years outdoors without lamination. Prints output with HP Latex inks on HP wallpapers can last up to 20 years indoors.
Materials for Posters and Wallcoverings
Here are the two newest HP latex inkjet media Freedom Paper offers for use with HP Latex inks.
HP Premium Poster Paper is a 9 mil, 200 gsm poster paper for HP 300 and HP 3000 series printers that use the third-generation HP Latex inks introduced in 2013. This paper is ideal for trade-show and event displays, retail graphics, photo-realistic posters, bus shelter graphics, and decorative art reproductions. It is available in 36-, 54-, and 60-inch rolls.
HP PVC-free Durable Smooth Wall Paper is a smooth, white wallpaper material that can be used to produce custom wall murals in all types of commercial, healthcare, and educational facilities. The printed wall paper installs easily with common wallpaper adhesives and comes down with traditional removal methods.
Unlike wallcovering materials printed on vinyl (PVC), HP Durable Smooth Wall Paper is odor-free. The wallpaper resists damage from water, abrasion, scrubbing, mold, and mildew. HP PVC-free Durable Smooth Wall Paper is FSC-certified and meets Type II (ASTM F793) wallcovering standards for use in commercial buildings. It also meets REACH and UL Greenguard GOLD requirements for materials that are safe enough for use in healthcare facilities and schools.
Other types of HP Latex inkjet media available from Freedom Paper includes:
