Canon imagePROGRAF TM Series of Wide-Format Printers Use Pigment Inks
With its new imagePROGRAF TM series, Canon U.S.A. has added seven models of 24-inch and 36-inch pigment-ink printers to its line-up of easy-to-use imagePROGRAF wide-format inkjet printers. Like the imagePROGRAF TX series, the Canon imagePROGRAF TM series of printers uses five LUCIA TD water-resistant pigment inks.
So, you can use these printers to make full-color CAD drawings, GIS maps, and office presentations on everyday bond and presentation papers or colorful short-term outdoor posters, signs, and displays on water-resistant materials (such as polypropylene film or self-adhesive vinyl).
Canon recommends the imagePROGRAF TM series for use in retail stores, restaurants, and office as well as traditional architectural, engineering, and construction environments.
If you routinely print multi-page PDF files or sets of documents, the models in the TM series can do it faster than Canon’s previous five-color models. Other features include 60% quieter operation for less distraction in the office, wireless printing, and an intuitive touchscreen panel.
If your office frequently handles sensitive materials such as military project plans or drawings for innovative products, you will be interested in Canon’s security features. Security features on the TM Series includes Secure Disk Erase, which conforms to United States Department of Defense standards (DoD5220.00-M) as well as IPSec support, SSL/TLS and 802.1x authentication.
“Our company always strives to make our technology as versatile as possible to meet the needs of all types of users, whether they are architects or artists,” said Shinichi Yoshida, executive vice president and general manager, Business Imaging Solutions Group, Canon U.S.A. “We are very excited to launch the imagePROGRAF TM Series, which allows customers to use our large format printers in ways that they may not have used them before.”
The printers in the TM series use five tanks of LUCIA TD pigment inks: Matte Black (MBK), Cyan (C), Magenta (M), Yellow (Y) and Black (BK). The printer are shipped with 130 ml tanks of MBK ink for monochrome technical drawings and everyday documents on bond papers and 90 ml of C, M, Y, and BK inks for color documents and prints on photo papers. You can order replacement tanks in two sizes: 130 ml or 300 ml.
The printers can handle either rolls of material on 2 or 3 inch cores or cut-sheet paper as small as 8 inches wide.
imagePROGRAF TM-200 ($2,495) can handle sheets or rolls up to 24 inches wide.
imagePROGRAF TM-300 ($4,495) can handle sheets or rolls up to 36 inches wide.
imagePROGRAF TM-305 ($4,995) is a 36-inch model that can print JPEG and PDF files directly from a thumb drive. It includes a 500 GB hard drive and comes with stacking basket.
Multifunction Models: Printers with Scanners
If your office needs the ability to scan and copy large-format prints and share or archive the print files, Canon offers two multi-function TM-series printers that feature an integrated 36-inch T36 scanner, a touchscreen computer, and SmartWorks software. To save space, the scanner can be attached to the printer. With the MFP T36 models you can scan multi-page PDF documents and simultaneously scan-to-copy and scan-to-file.
The T36 scanners can scan monochrome drawings at speeds up to 13 inches second and color documents at up to 6 inches per second. You can scan documents up to 2.0 mm thick.
For entry-level, low-volume users of wide-format multi-function printers, Canon has launched the imagePROGRAF TM-200 MFP L24ei and TM-300 MFP L36ei models. The Lei models have a more intuitive user interface and a reduced first copy output time compared to previous models. You can also scan files to the PDF/A file format for long-term archiving.
