New HP DesignJet T Printers Facilitate Mobile Printing of AEC Documents
HP Inc. has unveiled five new HP DesignJet T technical printers for better, faster, and easier printing with wireless networks and mobile devices. Each HP DesignJet T printer has specific features for different sizes of AEC workgroups as well as individual users, small businesses, and remote workers.
The flagship model, the HP DesignJet T830 Multifunction Printer (MFP) is compact and durable for use in the temporary offices at construction sites.
“Even as AEC and design professionals become increasingly mobile, they prefer making edits and reviewing plans on the printed page,” said Xavier Garcia, vice president and general manager, Large Format Printing, HP. “HP’s innovative new large-format printers and MFPs simplify collaboration with next-level features and mobile printing capabilities to meet this blended reality and print whatever and wherever AEC professionals need to.”
All five new HP DesignJet T printers are 36-inch, aqueous-ink printers with user-replaceable thermal printheads. Two models use four inks. Three models use six inks for a wider color gamut and better photographic printing.
Four-ink models: The DesignJet T830 and DesignJet T730 combine cyan, magenta, and yellow dye inks with black pigment inks for fast, efficient output of line drawings, renderings, and presentations. These printers can handle rolls or sheets of uncoated and coated bond papers and photo papers up to 11.8 mil thick.
Six-ink models: The HP DesignJet T930, DesignJet T1530, and DesignJet T2530 workgroup printers use six HP Original dye inks (cyan, magenta, yellow, black, photo black, and gray) to output professional-quality drawings, renderings, presentations, maps, and orthophotos for CAD and GIS applications. With the HP gray and photo black inks on these printers, you can achieve precise line accuracy, dark blacks, and true neutral grays.
The T930, T1530, and T2530 printers feature enhanced or advanced security protocols and can output on rolls or sheets of uncoated or coated bond paper and photo papers up 19.7 mil thick. They can be upgraded to run Adobe PostScript for printing PDFs or high-resolution graphics.
Here’s a quick overview of the five printers and the new HP All-in-One (AiO) Printer Remote app.
HP Designjet T830 Multifunction Printer (MFP)
This compact HP DesignJet T printer includes an integrated 36-inch scanner and a damage-resistant design. The DesignJet T830 Multifunction Printer was built to be transported to different job sites and operated without an on-site LAN.
At each job site, revisions can quickly be scanned and shared to all of the stakeholders in the project. The revised drawings can either be printed and distributed at the job site or stored and shared through online repositories such as Dropbox, Box, or Google Docs.
The MFP can be operated either from touchscreen on the printer, or with the HP AiO Printer Remote app on a smartphone or tablet. With HP’s Wi-Fi Direct feature, you can easily connect the printer to the same wireless network as the mobile device you will print from.
The T830 MFP was specifically engineered to endure dust and potential hits from being moved to job sites. Reinforced wheels and feet on the printer stands make printing at job sites more convenient. An optional HP Designjet Rugged Case offers enhanced damage and dust protection.
HP DesignJet T730 Printer
The HP DesignJet T730 printer for small businesses is a compact Wi-Fi printer for in-office or mobile printing of line drawings, renderings, presentations, and general-purpose documents. With HP Mobile Printing, you can print from a mobile device such as a smartphone or tablet with a few simple clicks. When you’re out of the office, you can attach a document to an e-mail and send it directly to your printer via ePrint.
Except for the integrated scanner, the DesignJet T720 is similar to the T830 MFP. Both printers enable you to economically deliver prints for meetings, mark up real-time changes, and quickly share copies of the revised plans for project stakeholders.
Both printers feature a touchscreen front panel with a smartphone-like interface. You can easily swipe through the options on the touchscreen. With other features of the DesignJet T830 and T720 you can:
- Print high-quality A1/D-size line drawings in 25 seconds (about 3 times faster than previous HP models).
- Cut paper waste by 50 percent by using an automatic sheet feeder to print half-size drawings up to 13 inches wide.
- Choose the ink cartridge size (40 ml, 130 ml, or 300 ml) that will be most economical for your requirements. If you print frequently, save money and cartridge-replacement time by buying inks in the 300 ml cartridge packs. If you only make a few prints a week, minimize initial costs and potential expiration issues by buying inks in 40 ml or 130 ml cartridges.
- Save ink and time when printing drafts by selecting the Econofast print mode.
- Detach the stand from the printer to move the printer from office to office.
The HP DesignJet T930
The HP DesignJet T930 provides improved print quality, productivity, and data security for small- and medium-sized AEC and GIS teams that print line drawings, renderings, presentations, maps, and orthophotos.
For uninterrupted printing, it can hold 300-ft.-long media rolls and cartridges with up to 300 ml of ink. Its integrated stacking tray can hold up to 50 flat, collated prints. This printer integrates easily with other office devices and is compatible with iOS and Android mobile devices through HP Mobile Printing.
The HP DesignJet T1530
This dual-roll printer is for maximum workgroup productivity and enterprise security in high-volume printing environment. It includes an integrated 50-page output stacking tray and enables you to print without interruption. This printer can handle a 300-ft. rolls of paper and cartridges with 300 ml of ink.
The HP DesignJet T2530 MFP
This easy-to-operate multi-function printer is for advanced design and engineering workgroups that need to scan, copy, and print professional quality CAD and GIS documents, This dual-roll printer can output an A1/D size print in about 21 seconds and scan color documents at speeds of up to 2.5 inches per second. The control panel on the MFP enables you to print, scan, or copy without using a PC.
Mobile Printing Capabilities for Collaboration
The new HP All-in-One (AiO) Printer Remote is a free mobile app for convenient printing and scanning to HP web-enabled printers and MFPs from both Apple and Android devices. The app makes printing in the field as easy as printing in the office. Built-in mobile printing features include printer discovery through wireless Internet, Wi-Fi Direct, and NFC, as well as e-mail printing to HP e-Print-enabled printers.
The HP AiO Printer Remote application makes mobile scanning and sharing easier by offering a direct connection of online repositories such as Dropbox, Box, and Google Drive.
The ability to print from everywhere has become increasingly important, particularly to contractors.
“Architectural drawings are at the heart of what we do as contractors, and getting them to the site quickly is key,” said Neil Geraghty, surveyor, Duke Construction. “With the HP DesignJet T830 MFP, we are able to quickly and affordably produce high-quality, large-format prints in-house, while HP mobile printing makes choosing, editing, and printing files easy to do from any location.”
