New Canon imagePROGRAF TX Printers for Mid-Volume Production of Drawings, Maps, Charts, and Schedules

Canon has updated its lineup of 36-in. and 44-in. 5-color imagePROGRAF TX printers for the high-productivity requirements of construction, design, and manufacturing operations. The printers are also a versatile option for universities, professional print shops, corporate spaces, distribution companies, transportation services, and government agencies.

The updated TX series two single-function printer and three multi-function printers. Unlike the wide-format printers used primarily for photo and text, all models in the TX series can directly print HP GL/2, CALS G4 files from CAD files as well as PDF and JPEG files.

Noteworthy Features

New Matte Black Ink. Like Canon’s newest TM series of printers, the TX models use a newly developed matte black ink with enhanced black density. This supports high-resolution output of drawings with sharp, legible fine lines and small text even when drawings are printed in the fast print mode. The updated Matte Black also produces more vibrant posters on plain paper than previous TX series printers.

Targeted users of Canon imagePROGRAF TX printers
The printers in Canon’s TX series streamline high-volume printing of drawings. The MFP models make document digitization and copying more efficient. The printers can also print colorful maps, posters, and safety signs.

Large-Capacity Ink Tanks. The TX printers use five colors of water-resistant LUCIA TD pigment inks: Cyan, Magenta, Yellow, Black, and Matte Black. On four of the models you can choose a mix of 160 ml, 330 ml and 700 ml ink tanks, depending on which inks you use most often.

You don’t have to stop the printer to change the ink tanks. Since the tanks are gravity-fed, virtually all of the ink is drained from one tank before the new one is used.

Enhanced Image Processing. This feature delivers richer, more vivid blues and greens so printed posters look more vibrant, even on plain paper. Improved image processing also creates improved contrast so knockout text is more legible.

Robust Security Features. The new TX printers include features that protect against unauthorized printing, network-based malware intrusions, data tampering. Data stored in the 256 GB hard drive on each printer is encrypted, as is the data transmitted from the scanner or printer for device management, monitoring, and configuration.

The Secure Print user-authentication tool requires authorized employees to enter a secure PIN code to prevent document mix-ups, los, and unauthorized removal of printed materials.

Intelligent Media-Handling. The Smart Roll Paper Set function automatically detects paper type, estimates the amount of roll paper remaining, and begins feeding as soon you place the roll is placed in the device.

Optional Double-Roll Feeding. The optional double-roll feed mechanism enables you to print longer runs on a single media type. Or the printer can easily switch from one type of media to another.

Onboard Color Calibration. This system corrects the color variations in printed output due to shifts in the performance of individual printheads. The calibration ensures consistent colors from print to print and from two or more imagePROGRAF printers.

Borderless Printing. A multi-sensor detects the edge of the paper and prints right up to the edge of the paper is the file has been set up with minimal margins.

Chromebook Support. Print and scan wirelessly from your Chromebook laptop without installing printer drivers or separate software.

Mopria Print Service Support. The TX series supports the Mopria Print Service app that enables wireless printing and scanning from Android phones and tablets.

Hard Drive. The printers include an encrypted 256 GB hard drive to securely store and reprint jobs as needed.

Canon TX4300 wide-format printer
The Canon imagePROGRAF TX-4300 wide-format printer features the TX stacker that holds up to 100 large drawings on plain paper face-down while maintaining print order.

Single-Function Models

Like the previous models, these 5-color printers are optimized for continuous output of multi-color line drawings, renderings, maps, and charts. They can also print full-color posters and simple signs for everyday use.

  • TX-3300. This 36-in. printer comes with rolling flat stacker or multi-positional flat stacking basket
  • TX-4300. This 44 in. printer comes with rolling flat stacker or multi-positional flat stacking basket

Speeds. The TX-3300 and TX-4330 printers can achieve print speeds of up to 199 D-sized (22 x 24 in.) prints per hour.

Accessories. The flat-stacking basket can neatly stack large sets of drawings face-down while maintaining print order. This enables finished drawings to be removed without the need to rearrange or align them. The TX stacker can hold up to 100 sheets face down.

With the optional multi-functional roll unit, you can either load two rolls of media on the printer or use one of the roll holders as a take-up reel for prints that will be laminated or cut on separate devices.

Full-Front Operation. All printer-related functions such as loading the paper, retrieving the prints, replacing the ink tanks, and inserting a new maintenance cartridge can all be performed from the front. The printer can be positioned flush against the wall to save space.

Canon iPF TXS3310 wide-format printer and scanner
The 36 in. Canon imagePROGRAF TX-3310 includes a 36-in. Z36 scanner and 15-in. touchscreen controller with SmartWorks software.

Multi-Function Printers (MFP)

All three of these MFP models include a stand, a 36-in. scanner, and a 15.6-in. touchscreen with SmartWorks software. The touchscreen can be used to manage both the printer and scanner. For example, employees who are using the scanner can check the screen to see how much ink and media is available if they want to print the scanned file.

  • TX-1300 MFP Z36. This 36 in. printer/scanner uses130 ml and 300 ml ink tanks and includes a flat stacking basket.
  • TX-3310 MFP Z36. This 36-in. printer/scanner uses 160 ml, 330 ml, or 700 ml ink tanks, and includes a multi-positional flat stacking basket or rolling flat stacker
  • TX-4310 MFP Z36. This 44-in. printer has a 36 in. scanner and uses 60 ml, 330 ml, or 700 ml ink tanks. It includes a multi-positional flat stacking basket or rolling flat stacker.

SmartWorks. With this scanning software, you can make real-time edits, such as color correction, brightness, and skew correction. This prevents you from having to rescan the documents to get the desired results.

Store Files or Print Copies. You can send the digital files created by the Z36 scanner to cloud services, multiple mailboxes, or folders. Or you can send the digital files to the printer to make one or more copies of the scanned documents. The scan-to-copy function operates at speeds of 13 inches-per-second for monochrome prints or 6 inches per second for color documents.

The scanner operates independently of the printer, so you can scan a document while a previous scan is being copied, or the printer is outputting another document.

Software

The software included with the TX printers include:

Accounting Manager. Monitor the amount of ink and paper used for each print job completed on one or multiple imagePROGRAF printers.

PRISMAproduce Tech. Connect multiple printers in a browser for printing and job management.

Direct Print Plus. Simplify batch printing by dropping documents made with different file formats into a batch folder for efficient printing on the loaded roll of print media. You will quickly see a preview, configure the print settings, and get a warning if any set-up errors might result in misprints.

Media Configuration Tool. Maintain a list of the print materials you use most often so you can choose it from the operation panel. Customize the displayed list of items and add optimum print settings for each media type.

Poster Artist Online. Poster Artist enables users with limited design experience to produce professional-looking posters, flyers, menus, banners, calendars, and signs

Free Layout Plus Conserve media on wide-format paper rolls by freely changing the layout of documents created in Microsoft Office or images edited in Adobe Photoshop. Or create two-sided posters by printing with a duplex layout.

Environmental Considerations

The TX series reflect Canon’s Kyosei philosophy of environmental responsibility. The new models meet the criteria registered for EPEAT 1.0 Gold Level certification. EPEAT is a system that rates the environmental impact of electronic products, using criteria developed by the Green Electronics Council. Product packaging no longer uses polystyrene foam and the use of corrugated fiberboard has been reduced.

Canon announced the 12 new models in the imagePROGRAF TM and TX series in September 2026

“With the expansion of our imagePROGRAF line, we’re giving construction, architecture, design, retail and education professionals even more ways to work efficiently, from faster, higher-volume drawing output to integrated scanning that streamlines how large-format documents are digitized and shared,” said Kiyoshi Oka, executive vice president, Marketing Strategy Unit, Canon U.S.A., Inc. “The addition of built-in scanning to the TM series, paired with new productivity features across the TX series, means our customers can spend less time managing print and scan workflows and more time focused on the work that matters mostn to their business.”

Freedom Paper will sell Canon’s imagePROGRAF TX series of five single-function and multi-function aqueous-pigment inkjet printers as well as Canon’s new imagePROGRAF TM series of seven single single-function and multi-function aqueous-inkjet printers as soon as they are available to ship.
